About the event
Foundations for Yoga Teachers
This short-format workshop offers yoga teachers a deeper look at the nervous system than is typically covered in standard 200-hour training programs. Participants will review the foundational anatomy of the central and peripheral nervous systems, with particular emphasis on the autonomic branches — sympathetic and parasympathetic — and how they shape stress responses, recovery, and regulation.
The course explores how yoga practices such as breathwork, pacing, and movement influence autonomic balance. Participants will gain a clearer understanding of how the body shifts between activation and rest states, and how intentional sequencing can support nervous system resilience.
In addition to autonomic function, the workshop introduces key neuromuscular concepts including proprioceptors and the stretch reflex. Teachers will learn how these mechanisms affect flexibility, stability, and safe cueing in asana practice. The goal is not medical-level instruction, but practical nervous system literacy that enhances teaching confidence and student safety.
